About Freyja

Smart and eager to please, this mare has three lovely and active gaits that score highly in the dressage ring. With two years of classical training in her, she is a horse that will teach you correct basics, as well as continue to progress up the training scale. Shown successfully last season at training level, Freyja is now confirmed in all the 1st level work and beginning to school 2nd level. She is also comfortable going out alone on the trail or with groups.

Freyja has been in partial training with Janna since June of 2014, and has demonstrated great natural ability for dressage, as well as a calm but inquisitive nature, which makes her a pleasure to handle on the ground and under saddle. Easy in the connection and light on the aids, Freyja is a forgiving horse and is ideally suited for the rider who wants a sensitive horse with a sensible nature. In unfamiliar situations, she should still have the guidance of a confident rider, therefore she is not recommended for an absolute beginner. However, she is very experienced at giving lunge line lessons -- her reliability, steadiness, and swinging gaits make her the perfect lunge horse for seat work.

At her first recognized dressage show in 2015, Freyja scored 74.783% at training level and high point award for the whole show under the guidance of her trainer (in the mud and pouring rain, no less)! At subsequent shows she was ridden successfully by her Jr/YR owner at training level, scoring in the mid-60 percents. She is currently schooling all of the first level work and some second level with her trainer (video available below of schooling and of shows), and certainly has the aptitude to move up the levels. Her older half-sister, who has also been in training with Janna, is currently training 3rd level and showing 2nd with her owner, scoring in the mid-60 percents. Freyja loads into a variety of trailers, including a little Brenderup, and settles in well at shows.

Freyja is a registered Half Arabian by the Friesian stallion Hessel and out of an Arabian mare by Bask. Her ribs are well sprung, so she fills the leg well, and would be a good fit for a petite to average sized rider (trainer in photos is 5'4" with long legs). She has been comfortably barefoot all her life, and is an easy horse to keep. She has thrived in both stall and pasture board situations, private and group turnout, and can safely be turned out with geldings.

Due to college preparation, Freyja's owner has decided it's time to find a new partner for her beautiful mare. She is looking for a new owner who would be able to access and appreciate this horse's considerable talents, therefore Freyja is offered at a very reasonable price for a good home.
