About Royal Scholar

The offspring of a Rohdiamant (Rubenstein) son, Rhodes Scholar, and a Don Gregory (Donnerhall) mare, Royal Scholar (a.k.a Rocky) brings together two of the great German warmblood lines. Rocky has inherited a very desirable blend of sensitivity tempered with a docile nature. With the personality of a golden retriever, Rocky has earned the nickname "gentle giant" around the barn. Despite his imposing stature, he is always easy to handle, never spooks, and is always respectful of his rider/handler.

Not only did Rocky get off to a good start in life thanks to his breeding, but as a three year old, he was started by Scott Hassler, USEF Dressage Young Horse Coach. Under Mr. Hassler's guidance, he won his 3yo Materiale Class at Hilltop Farms. Since that time, Rocky has had one owner, and she has kept him in training and given him impeccable care. Due to the increasing costs associated with her other horses, she is very motivated to sell.

Rocky is currently working at 3rd level, and schooling 4th level/PSG movements. He has a powerful trot and canter, as well as a very correct walk. Rocky is light on the aids, a diligent worker, and so focused on his rider that he is rarely even remotely distracted by things going on around him. His reliable temperament has been evident whether he is inside, outside, or on the trail (even with heavy machinery going by).
